It's finally May! And the sun is almost out. I'm hoping that the winter is finally over. Yesterday I took a picture of the first flowers that started to bloom in my yard. Beautiful!
I came across an interesting article about Adults gathering together to read their Teenage Diaries Aloud. It takes place at Freddy's Bar & Backroom in Brooklyn every first Wednesday of the month from 9pm to midnight. To request a booking to read, you have to write:Freddy's Bar, Attn. Manager 485 Dean Street. Brooklyn NY 11217. Or you can go to www.freddysbackroom.com
You can get out your old diaries and get up and read your :Angst-filled, narcissistic,cliche-ridden teenage writings. (as described by Sarah Brown who created Cringe Night,.)
This is such a great idea to write a play about or even a musical. Bringing people back to their childhood or teenage years. Everyone always keeps their diaries and if you go back and read them, you can even gain alot of insight into yourself.
I always keep a diary up to my middle school years and then I think I got too busy and my entrys would have had to be long pages, way to longwinded for a diary. Also at that time I became very interested in poetry and poured my soul into that. I don't think teens today keep diarys, although I always see them for sale in stores. Everything today is for the world to see on MySpace, Face Book and YouTube.
So, if you are ever in Brooklyn, go to Freddy's and get a blast from the past. But also use your creative energy's! Maybe, there is more then you think there is, maybe a new show, play, book, comedy routine!
Next week alot of new listings for projects will be coming on Funding The Arts. I've been getting alot of hits, so it looks ready to start having listings for artists that need funding.
Their will be an author who is the mother of a famous director. (More about that later). A Dance School, musicians and others. Check it out!
Enjoy May Day! I am!
