It's no secret that the area's array of artistic endeavors need continual financial aid in order to survive, so Funding The Arts is trying to help.
The website, created a year ago by local professional dancer Joanne Deutch, allows organizations such as music groups, dance troupes, fashion designers, jewelers, school theatre groups, writers, and even historical houses and museums to shout out their contribution needs.
Deutch, former head of Lenox dance Academy and former employee at Shakespeare & Company, understands the need for help firsthand: she sometimes found herself and colleagues putting their own money into shows.
After creating an account, users list projects by category and send a link to friends, family, and supporters. Good Samaritans point and click to present a confidential monetary contribution via PayPal, because the show must go on. (Written by JK at Berkshire Living Magazine August 07 issue)
