Jalopy in Brooklyn
Geoff and Lynette Wiley start a Community Arts Center in Red Hook

"Jalopy" is a community arts center in Brooklyn that opened a year ago as a vision for a space where arts could happen everyday, a hub for local performers.

There are many different types of arts taught and performed, local art shows, instrument shop, music lessons and they even have a beer license to sell beer and wine.

Some upcoming performances include, a Sam Shepard play, old time folk jam, trapeze dance performance and a Halloween burlesque show.

Recently Geoff and Lynette had a block party to celebrate their first year of business, even strangers helped to clean up after the party. I salute this great couple who took their money and time, came up with a great idea and did it as a labour of love!
